More than 50 ‘Discover Arts Awards’ have been presented to hardworking young people who completed YMCA Digital’s Young Creatives programme this year.
The project, which is delivered by Nottinghamshire YMCA’s Young Creatives team at the charity’s YMCA Digital hub in the city centre, gives young people the opportunity to enjoy activities ranging from radio broadcasting and mixing tracks to singing, music production and research.
Through experimenting with various creative platforms in a safe, non-judgemental and educational environment, participants are able to expand their core skills and work towards a nationally recognised and accredited ‘Discover Arts Award’.
‘Deserving young people’
With this year’s programme completed and the team gearing up to recruit next year’s participants, YMCA Digital was this month pleased to present more than 50 Discover Arts Awards at entry level, plus one gold, one silver and 13 bronze awards.
The annual project is led by Ben Felstead, who is YMCA Digital’s Lead Youth Worker and Young Creatives Coordinator at Nottinghamshire YMCA.
“We are so proud to present so many arts awards to such deserving young people,” said Darren Goodlad, Youth Programmes Manager at YMCA Digital. “The number of awards earned is a real testament to the kind of dedication and talent that Nottingham’s next generation has to offer.
“Whether participants choose to express themselves through radio broadcasting, performing songs at events or working hard behind-the-scenes in music production – we really hope our community will invest in this fantastic local talent and tune in to support our young people.
“Well done to everyone who achieved an arts award!”
