December 2021 is certainly shaping up to be an exciting month for YMCA Housing, with the team delivering a fantastic programme of activities for residents this festive season!
Having kicked off the Christmas spirit by decking the halls with beautiful decorations, residents at 4 Shakespeare Street are set to enjoy the delights of a Hot Chocolate Station (complete with marshmallows, biscuits and mince pies of course!) on Christmas Eve.
We are touched that The Wolfpack Project will be visiting Peachy Street on 22 December with handmade cards and wellbeing packs that have been thoughtfully crafted to help our young residents feel valued this winter.
Following a successful shoebox appeal, presents donated by the wonderful SEWA Day charity, plus more gifts from various donors, will be delivered for all of our 356 residents just in time for Christmas Day.
Community kindness
Thanks to the phenomenal support from community supporters and local businesses, lined up for Christmas Day is a traditional festive feast for residents to indulge, which will be prepared by Malt Cross chefs and served up by our amazing Housing Officers.
The big day will be followed by takeaway picnic bags that are packed with goodies being issued on Boxing Day to residents who have arranged collection at Shakespeare Street.
If that isn’t enough festive fun, residents will be treated further on New Year’s Day with a more casual pizza event.
It is important to stress that none of these special activities would be possible without our tenacious Housing team members working over the festive period to ensure every YMCA resident knows there is care and joy at Christmas. We cannot thank these frontline staff members enough for their incredible hard work and compassion for our movement’s service users at one of the most difficult times of the year. You are true community heroes.
