We believe that no one should feel unloved at Christmas. With lockdown adding an extra layer of social isolation for homeless individuals, this year’s festive season is shaping up to be an extremely challenging time for our most vulnerable community members.
That is why our YMCA’s Housing team is calling out for supporters to contribute towards our charity hampers by buying a gift or making a donation to help us ensure every one of our formerly homeless residents wakes up to a present to open on Christmas morning.
You can either donate a gift via our Amazon Wishlists below, sponsor a gift online or drop off presents at your local YMCA hostel reception (please follow all government safety guidelines).
Suggested gift items include: arts and craft activities, stationery, 2021 diaries/calendars, perfumes/aftershaves, body creams, hair products, hats, scarves, gloves, sweets/chocolates/biscuits gifts, slippers, blankets, keyrings and toiletry gift sets. We also warmly welcome wrapping materials (labels, wrapping paper, decorations, cards etc.).
“Christmas can be a very difficult time for homeless people,” said Nick Clements, Housing Operations Manager at Nottinghamshire YMCA. “For many of us, Christmas time means hearty dinners, warm fires and sharing treats with loved ones who have put thought into making our winter holidays meaningful. However, for too many individuals who turn to us for support, this is sadly not the reality.
“The purpose of our gift appeal is to ensure that every homeless person who walks through our doors feels appreciated this Christmas. Whatever you are able to give, your donation will bring happiness and light to our community’s most vulnerable individuals.”
Thank you!
