Community-minded customers of healthy food and drinks brand The Skinny Food Co. are being invited to step up to the plate when ordering items online to raise funds for vulnerable young people in Nottingham.
Having generated an incredible £56,000 for Nottingham Hospitals Charity last quarter, customers buying Skinny Food items online during June and July can now choose to change lives by ‘rounding up’ their purchase cost at the payment stage. The difference will then be donated directly into supporting service users at local young people’s charity, Nottinghamshire YMCA.

Nottinghamshire YMCA works closely with young people, families and vulnerable individuals to provide housing support and access to safe learning environments for our community’s next generation. Delivering everything from outdoor adventure programmes to girls mentoring and childcare, the charity’s non-profit YMCA Gym Nottingham also helps support services for vulnerable people across the region.
Launched in 2019, Skinny Food Co. is its infancy but growing at pace; a true success story from the past 15 months in every sense as a company that has gone from turning over £1.6m in their first year, £4.6m in their second to predictions of hitting the £18m turnover mark this year. With secured listings at Morrisons, TK Maxx, Home Bargains and Co-op, alongside James Whiting (co-founder) being recognised by Forbes in their 30 under 30 for business entrepreneurship in 2021.
As a brand that similarly promotes healthy living and healthy lifestyle changes, The Skinny Food Co has decided to raise funds and awareness for the YMCA in support of the charity’s mission to improve health and wellbeing for all.
James Whiting, Co-Founder of The Skinny Food Co, said: “Supporting a local charity dedicated to promoting the importance of healthy living is of course super important to us. We’re hoping to raise awareness of this charity’s work for our local community and across the country. As a company, it’s great to see that we can positively impact the lives of those involved, and we look forward to working together.”
Supporting vulnerable young people to lead healthier lifestyles
Jo Bradley-Fortune, Director of Corporate Development and Fundraising at Nottinghamshire YMCA, said: “Our shared mission of promoting healthy living for all within our local communities is a fantastic unifier, and we are deeply grateful for The Skinny Food Co. empowering customers to make meaningful social change through their online purchases.
“Physical and psychological nourishment maintained through a balanced diet, exercise and emotional support is something that many of us often take for granted. For our formerly homeless residents living in YMCA’s supported accommodation, these important life elements have not always been readily available, and so we really hope customers will give what they can and help us to support our community’s most vulnerable members to lead healthier lifestyles.”
