The skies looked grey with the threat of rain to break the heatwave on Saturday morning as our YMCA team set up their stall on Heathcoat Street for this year’s Nottingham Pride weekend.
Rainbow flags and YMCA chants!
Armed with rainbow flags, flyers and our special one-off YMCA Pride bunting and badges, the charity’s Marketing and Communications Officer Julian Phillips, HR Advisor Kate Haddigan and YMCA Gym’s Liz Robertson turned out for the festivities on Saturday 28 July.
Colourful badges promoting our four core values – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility – proved very popular, as did our Pride rainbow badges and YMCA Gym branded ‘You’ve Got This’ wristbands, which were all quickly snaffled up.
As a Mindful Employer, our YMCA charity believes that everyone should have the chance to grow into their full authentic and true self.
‘Compassion between all people’
“It was certainly a day full of fun,” said Julian Phillips, Marketing and Communications Officer at YMCA.
“People seemed genuinely pleased to see us take our place at Pride. We blew bubbles and chatted to people about the YMCA’s life-changing frontline community services. It is fantastic to know that hundreds of people in Nottingham are now walking around with our core values pinned to their lapels and bags!”
With occasional chants of the Village’s People’s ‘YMCA’ anthem echoing throughout the streets of our city, people travelled for miles to come together and celebrate love and compassion between all people.
