By donating a gift to our hostels this winter, your single act of kindness could make a homeless person feel special and loved this Christmas.
Our Housing team is calling out for generous staff, friends and supporters to donate a gift and help make this Christmas special for the most vulnerable members of our community.
Suggested gift items most needed include: Arts and Craft activities, stationery, 2019 diaries, perfumes/aftershaves, body creams, hair products, hats, scarves, gloves, sweets/chocolates/biscuits, keyrings and toiletry gift sets.
“Christmas can be a very challenging time for Nottingham’s homeless people,” said Beckie King, Social Worker at Nottinghamshire YMCA.
“For many of us, Christmas time means turkey, warm fires and sharing presents and treats with loved ones who have put thought and effort into making our winter holidays meaningful. However, for too many of our residents who turn to us for support, the idea of spending Christmas by a blazing fire surrounded by loving family members is sadly not a reality.
“The purpose of our gift appeal is to ensure that no homeless person who walks through our doors feels unloved this Christmas. Whatever you are able to give, we want you to know that your donation will bring happiness and light to our community’s most vulnerable individuals during these dark months.
“When you’re living on the streets during the bitter winter months, something as simple as a warm hat, gloves or scarf could make the world of difference to a person’s quality of life.”
Any gift donations will be gratefully accepted at Nottinghamshire YMCA’s hostel reception at 4 Shakespeare Street (FAO Beckie King).
Thank you!
