We’d like to share the great work going on in the Outdoor Education Department with you. Access to Nature is a fantastic programme for helping participants onto the next stage of education/training/employment. We’re grateful for the opportunity given to us by our funders – the government’s Green Recovery Challenge Fund, and The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England, the Environment Agency, and the Forestry Commission.

A full 7 days later, Jack and Alex returned. The group boarded the minibus and off they went to Clumber Park to meet the fantastic Claire and her extremely knowledgeable team for a day of conservation. At the wonderful grounds of Clumber Park, the groups took a guided nature walk, learning about the history of the grounds and the efforts that go into preserving such a beautiful place. After some theory, it was time to don the gardening gloves, pick up the paint brushes, and get stuck into the conservation task of the day. Groups got involved in a number of activities, from giving tired fences a new lick of paint to grafting hard to clear away scrub with the Ranger’s team. After writing their entries into their development logs and engaging in the debrief of the day’s events, it was finally time to head home for what would have been an early night for most!
